DÉGAGÉ

Dégagé is a café-bar developed on two levels, whose design aimed to fulfill the client’s vision of a bright space with a touch of glamour. Having that in mind, our studio draw inspiration from the Art Deco era, during the 1910s and 1920s. The idea was to create an atmospheric and luxurious space, but, at the same time, fresh and contemporary.

The ground floor layout is elongated with the central columns creating a large corridor in the middle, which during nighttime transforms into a dance floor. The restrictions of the voluminous pillars generated the bar’s organic form, making it seem as if it’s meandering between them. Opposite the bar, blue leather banquettes with wooden stands and stools are placed. Upstairs, a dining area welcomes groups of friends to enjoy their time together in private.

A wooden embossed DJ stand was specially designed for Dégagé, accompanied by rounded wine displays, which are also used as ladder for the staircase. An art deco pattern was the starting point to design the panel at the back of the main hall, as well as the hanging decorative ceiling, combining oak wood and Viennese wicker. Every custom-made element was designed with great attention to detail.

The dark mosaic and lighted onyx back-bar bring us memories from old classic movies, while the airy pendant lights and hanging plants travel us to a modern café in LA. Warm and cool surfaces, sharp and curved forms intertwine effortlessly and create a luxurious laid-back space to enjoy both brunch and aperitives.
