ARCHITECTURAL VISUALIZATION

Dashing architects

Tucked within the raw beauty of the Naxian landscape, this hospitality project is an ongoing interior and outdoor transformation, designed to host up to 20 guests in an atmosphere that balances authenticity and comfort. The intervention includes not only the reconfiguration of existing rooms, but also the creation of new outdoor spaces, a lounge area, and a newly designed swimming pool—turning the property into a holistic summer retreat.

The architectural gesture does not attempt to reinvent the island’s identity, but rather to highlight it. The spatial narrative respects the original character of the built environment while reinterpreting it through new typologies and custom design elements. Each room is conceived as a unique expression of Cycladic tradition, filtered through a contemporary lens. Shapes are preserved, but layouts and atmospheres are entirely reimagined.

Phoenixia Naxos Rooms designed by Dashing architects

Wood, ceramic tiles, plaster, and light natural fabrics interact with the cool presence of local Naxian marble, creating a textured, tactile dialogue between surfaces. Every material choice is rooted in a respect for locality—both cultural and environmental. The finishes are intentionally minimal yet rich in their natural imperfection, allowing light and shadow to animate the spaces throughout the day.

Many of the constructions within the project are custom-designed, referencing traditional techniques and island craftsmanship. Built-in benches, soft archways, and handcrafted details pay homage to both Cycladic purity and Cretan warmth—two influences that define the identity of Naxos itself. The design invites guests to slow down, to feel the space, and to reconnect with a quieter rhythm of life.

As the rooms take shape and the outdoor spaces evolve, what emerges is not simply a place to stay, but an experience of the island itself—told through design, materials, and the emotion of space. The retreat is set to welcome guests this season, offering a new kind of luxury: one rooted in earth, light, and honest simplicity.
