Greece’s Parga is a town that guarantees relaxation and recharge to those who seek it. Within it the new restaurant and café Punente will be the perfect spot to enjoy a cozy brunch that brings together sumptuous Greek cuisine, modern style and a subtle, design-led approach. The café and restaurant is located on the picturesque city’s boardwalk, overlooking Panagia’s small island.

The clients were envisioning a relaxing and familiar space to welcome its guests from morning to night with coffee and breakfast, as well as aperitifs and dinner. A kitchen able to produce the variety of food and drinks that the clients desired required a major part of the ground level. Due to the layout’s irregular shape and size, we decided to create a long bar as the centerpiece of the restaurant’s interior, with a Didimon marble countertop and cotto tiles on its elevation. A scarpa flooring corridor, parallel to the bar, illustrates the clients’ moving axis. The dining area is kept at the restaurant’s outdoor space, while the mezzanine hosts a more reserved space to work, study or just enjoy quietly a cool juice while relishing the magnetizing view.

Warm toned cement mortar is chosen for the ground floor’s ceiling, creating an atmospheric ambience for the eyes to take a break from the bright Greek sun. The same material is used for the staircase and mezzanine’s flooring. Protruding, rectangular shapes decorate the mezzanine’s dining area walls, personifying the painting and frames that would hang in a house’s cozy living room. Arched plant pots, covered with cotto tiles, host plants bringing the green element inside

In a place where tourism has become part of it, our studio wants to point out locality. The key feature of the restaurant’s spot is its view of the island; with an abstract approach we designed the mezzanine’s wooden dining tables, whose shape is taken from the island’s outline.

The aesthetic mix nostalgia with contemporary elegance, from 21st century minimalistic design to tradition Greek crafts.
